Atlanta Braves soach Roger McDowell has issued an apology for his behavior at San Francisco's AT&T Stadium last weekend, where he got into it with some fans.
“I am deeply sorry that I responded to the heckling fans in San Francisco on Saturday. I apologize to everyone for my actions,” McDowell said in a statement.
Respond he did. With gay slurs. During batting practice before the Braves played the Giants, McDowell called three men who were sitting together “homos.”
He also simulated having sex with a baseball bat.
Sitting nearby was Justin Quinn and his twin nine-year-old twin girls. Quinn was outraged at McDowell’s behavior and told the former MLB pitcher as much.
McDowell then Quinn, “Kids don’t f**king belong at the ball park.”
McDowell also appeared to threaten the protective dad, asking him, “how much are your teeth worth?” as he held a baseball bat. Sounds like a class act.
MLB Commissioner Bud Selig has said his office will be investigating the situation, and Gloria Allred has gotten involved (obviously) on behalf of Quinn.
Somehow we think this may not end with Roger's apology.
