Kate Middleton's Family Gets Their Own Coat of Arms

With the Royal Wedding just over a week away (April 29), bride-to-be Kate Middleton and her family have been granted a traditional coat of arms.

E! Online is reporting that the design featuring three acorns symbolizes the three Middleton children: the princess-to-be and her siblings Pippa, 27, and James, 24. The gold chevron in the center of the crest is to represent Middleton's mother, Carole.

The Middleton family is reported to have chosen the colors red and blue since they're featured prominently in flag of the U.K.

The new coat of arms will need the Queen's approval and after the wedding, the coat of arms will be merged with Prince Williams' own coat of arms and a new design will be constructed for Middleton, a process that normally takes several months.
