The Royal Wedding: William and Kate Say 'I Will'

Prince William and Kate Middleton exchanged vows in Westminster Abbey on Friday, making them the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. More than 1 million well-wishers looked on in the London streets and an estimated 2 billion tuned in to watch the fairy talk come true.

The couple said "I will" when directed by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. Middleton wore an ivory and white satin gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen and her hair was mostly down. William wore a red tunic of an Irish Guards officer, according to the AP. PopEater was watching the spectacle just like you and live-blogged accordingly.

8:06 AM: A whole lot of waiting until that kiss.

7:34 AM: The clearly happy couple hop off the carriage and make their way in for a luncheon event at Buckingham Palace.

7:20 AM: Procession through London continues with Will and Kate's subjects showering them with love and screams. We're taking a moment to appreciate the QueenMobile, though. Very fetch.

7:09 AM: They have exited the Abbey and Prince William daintily puts his white gloves on as they board the carriage.

6:55 AM: The bride and groom have been escorted out for a quick minute to themselves.

6:51 AM: More singing, but this time a big hit: 'God Save The Queen' which for Americans sounds identical to 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee.' How many of you were belting "LET FREEDOM RING' at the end?

6:44 AM: Guests get their 'Lord's Prayer' on following a gorgeous choral performance.

6:34: Following some more singing, the Rev. Richard Chartres does some lecturing on the awesomeness of marriage. Highlight: He quotes Chaucer, a "pithy poet."

5:51 AM: The bride has left the building! Kate Middleton and her father, Michael, are en route from the Goring Hotel to Westminster Abbey. From what we could see, the bride is dressed in a lace-bodiced, long-sleeved dress and veil, with her hair worn down.

The palace released a minute-by-minute official program Thursday for the procession and ceremony.

In addition to the schedule, a new portrait of the Kate Middleton and Prince William was also released, which was taken by the famed photographer Mario Testino.
And along with the black and white portrait was a personal message of thanks from the royal couple.

UsMagazine.com reports that the message reads, "We are both so delighted that you are able to join us in celebrating what we hope will be one of the happiest days of our lives. The affection shown to us by so many people during our engagement has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness."
